The twenty-fifth anniversary of Young Judaea will be observed Sunday at a jubilee dinner at the Grand Street Boys’ Clubhouse, where outstanding Jewish leaders will join members and friends of the organization in the anniversary celebration. According to an announcement by David Levine, national president of Young Judaea, Judge Julian W. Mack is honorary chairman and M. Maldwin Fertig, chairman of the dinner committee.
Messages have been received from outstanding personalities not only in the United States, but from leaders in Canada, England and Palestine. Among those who have hailed the organization for its efforts in promoting a sound and creative Jewish life in America are Prof. Albert Einstein, Governor. Herbert H. Lehman, Neville J. Laski, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews; Prof. Felix Frankfurter, Dr. Judah L. Magnes, chancellor of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem; Jane Addams of Hull House in Chicago, Morris Rothenberg, president of the Zionist Organization of America; Mrs. Edward Jacobs, national president of Hadassah, and A. J. Freiman, president of the Zionist Organization of Canada.
STRESS MOVEMENT’S VALUE
Pointing to the critical situation of Jewry in many countries, these leaders stress the vital need of a more widespread development of Jewish youth movements in America. Their statements laud the achievements of Young Judaea in this direction and express the hope that American Jewry will come to the support of an organization that is identified with the most positive and fundamental forces in Jewish life today.
Announcing the plans for the dinner, Mrs. A. H. Vixman, executive director of Young Judaea, said that it would be the occasion for the adoption of an enlarged program of activity for Young Judaea throughout the country. She pointed out that the membership of Young Judaea, now approximately 20,000 boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18, will be increased to 50,000 in the next few years, if the proper action is taken by Jewish communities in support of its effort in behalf of Jewish youth.
Among the scheduled principal speakers at the dinner are Judge Mack, Mr. Rothenberg, Mrs. Jacobs, Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the Jewish National Fund; Dr. David de Sola Pool, Mr. Levine, Dr. Louis I. Neuman and Mr. Fertig, who will act as chairman.
