The nineteenth annual convention of the Young Judaea opened here yesterday afternoon, with a conference of suppervisors representing the Eastern. Mid-Western and Southern Regions for the discussion of the problems affecting Young Judaea’s education program.
More than 400 delegates. representing 800 clubs in 37 states, were at the official opening of the convention last night.
The semi-finals in the National Oratorical Contest were held last night with the ten best orators from the ten Young Judase regions throughout the country participating. Five orators were eliminated in this contest, and the other five will contest for national honors at the Sunday evening session of the Zionist Organization of America.
The Supreme Court of New Orleans refused writs of habeas corpus for Robert and Byron Dunn, condemned for the murder of Deputy Sherift Sam Duhon of Calcasieu Parish. Application was filed charging that the two were convicted by a court dominated by the Ku Klux Klan.
