Dr. Henry Sonneborn III, president of the American Friends of The Hebrew University, feels that an organization or an institution can retain its vitality only if younger people become involved in leadership positions. In line with this outlook Dr. Sonneborn expressed gratification that Harvey M. Krueger, 43, of Ridgewood, N.J. was recently named chairman of the Greater New York region of the American Friends, making him responsible for the major region of American Friends extensive effort in behalf of Israel’s oldest and largest Institution of higher learning and research.
“Harvey Krueger is a symbol of the emergence of new leadership in the organization’s top echelons,” Dr. Sonneborn said. “He represents the changing guard, as a generation moves up the ladder to help guide the growth of the university.” Krueger said he accepted the appointment as a challenge to the American community to be equal to the needs of the future. “A new group must be attracted to share in the monumental tasks of American Friends. Its responsibilities and accomplishments grow from year to year, and so must our efforts in its behalf.”
