A 23-year-old laborer was remanded in custody today after being charged with starting fires at two London synagogues last June which caused damages estimated at 200, 000 pounds ($560, 000). David Thorne was accused of “unlawfully and maliciously” setting fire to the Brondesbury and Bayswater synagogues on June 30, 1965. He was ordered held until February 5 for a hearing.
