Jewish leaders throughout the state are studying the recent utterances of youthful Rabbi William G. Braude, spiritual leader of Temple Beth-El, Rhode Island’s largest reform congregation, in which he vigorously denounced many of the activities of American Jewry in behalf of Jewish victims of Hitlerism.
Speaking before the Providence Section, National Council of Jewish Women, Rabbi Braude declared that “many of the utterances and activities of American Jews in behalf of their brother Jews in Germany smack, I believe, of self-seeking to advance one force or another rather than to advance German Jewry.”
He was particularly vehement in his condemnation of the recent “Case of Civilization Against Hitlerism” in New York.
