The three-day sixth national convention of the Jewish Confederation of Brazil concluded here today with a series of decision reorganizing the setup and leadership of the representative body of Brazilian Jewry. A new executive body was elected in which veterans of the organization were joined by members of the new generation of younger community leaders.
The convention voted also to shift the seat of the federation from Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo and to hold its national conventions every two years. The national council of the organization, it was decided, will meet every six months. For the first time in the history of the federation, all its member communities were represented among the 112 delegates attending the convention. The Jewish community of Brasilia, the new capital of Brazil, was represented for the first time.
