Ivan Mestrovic, the sculptor, today confirmed here that he has presented his two-ton statue of Moses to the State of Israel “in deep appreciation of the contribution which the Jewish people have made directly or indirectly to human civilization.”
Mr. Mestrovic, who is in self-exile from Yugoslavia, made the gift through the Yugoslav Government. He is currently working on a sculpture to be erected in New York’s Riverside Park next year as a memorial to the Jewish martyrs of World War II.
