Almost 2,000 delegates, representing 800 districts and regions, are expected to attend the 55th annual convention of the Zionist Organization of America which will open here June 12 and continue through June 16. The convention, which will review policies and programs of the organization, will also elect a successor to Benjamin G. Browdy as president. Prominently mentioned as candidates are Ezra Shapiro, Rabbi Irving Miller and Abraham Redelheim.
Announcement was made in Chicago of formation of a committee there to advance the candidacy of Max Bressler, former president of the Zionist Organization of Chicago. Mr. Bressler was endorsed by the administrative committee of the Chicago organization.
The Brandeis Zionist District in Washington elected Dr. Emanuel Neumann as an authorized delegate for the district and a slate of delegates to the forthcoming convention most of whom support the Silver-Neumann policies and the candidacy of Rabbi Miller.
The West Coast region of the Z.O.A., at its annual conference this week-end, adopted a resolution urging the Zionist Organization not to affiliate nor identify itself with any political party in Israel. Rabbi Max Nussbaum, a supporter of Mr. Shapiro, was unanimously elected president of the region.
