More than 20 public meetings on American policy towards Israel and the Middle East, sponsored by the Zionist Organization of America, are being held in various parts of the country throughout the month of October, it was announced today by Mortimer May, president of the Z.O.A.

Resolutions adopted by the meetings held to date have expressed vigorous opposition to the Administration’s current policy of supplying arms to Arab states, and have called upon the leaders of both the Republican and Democratic parties to insist that the Administration withhold these arms shipments, concern itself actively with maintaining Israel’s security as an integral part of American foreign policy, and induce the Arab states to enter into non-aggression agreements with Israel.

In making this announcement, Mr. May stressed that the chief speakers at these meetings are members of Congress and their opponents in the current election campaign, both Republicans and Democrats. “This is in accordance with the traditional American policy of support and friendship for Israel–a policy which was created by this country’s greatest statesmen, Republicans and Democrats alike,” Mr. May added.
