Rabbi Irving Miller, president of the Zionist Organization of America, today assailed the granting of free American arms to Iraq as “an act of myopic diplomacy fraught with great danger for the peace and security in the Middle East.”
Addressing a meeting of the national executive committee of the organization held at the national ZOA headquarters, Rabbi Miller declared that the grant of military aid to Iraq is not only “a set-back for the cause of peace in the Middle East” but that such a step “constitutes a reward to a feudal government for its open warfare upon the peace loving State of Israel. ” He also termed it “an inducement to an intransigent government to continue its policy of virulent hostility to Israel with which it refused to enter even into an armistice agreement.”
