Dr. Chaim Weizmann, whose principal purpose in coming to America was stated by Zionist President Solomon Goldman here yesterday to be the raising of a $4,000,000 loan from American Jews to aid Palestine, was in Washington today, where it was said he would hold consultations with various political leaders.
Dr. Weizmann, in a message to a meeting of the Zionist Organization of American’s Administrative Council yesterday, called for intensified efforts to continue with upbuilding of the Jewish homeland because of the plight of the Jews in Europe.
The council responded by adopting a resolution calling on all Zionists to subject themselves to a voluntary “tax” as large as each could afford to help defray the costs of transportation of refugees to Palestine. The council also referred Dr. Goldman’s plan for reorganization of the Z.O.A. to a special commission which will report to the executive committee.
