Immediate steps will be taken to implement the resolution adopted by the Administrative Council of the Zionist Organization of America to redeem, through the Jewish National Fund, 5,000 dunams in the Huleh region as a “living testimony of the Z.O.A.’s historic connection with Israel, ” it was announced here today by Fred Monosson, national treasurer of the organization.
Dr. Harris J. Levine, president of the Jewish National Fund of America, in a statement issued here today, hailed the Z.O.A. decision. He also expressed the hope that other Jewish bodies in the United States will emulate the Z.O.A. example, in redeeming parts of the Huleh Region, ” thus making possible the success of the vast operations which the Jewish National Fund is now carrying forward in Northern Galilee to drain the Huleh Lake, thus turning the 60,000 dunams of malarial swamps into agricultural land with an estimated agricultural yield of $10,000,000 per year.
