The majority of the 12,000 Jews residing in Zagreb, capital of the Nazi puppet state of Croatia, have been shipped to an island on the Adriatic for hard labor, it is reported in German newspapers reaching Zurich today. The name of the island is not given.
The Bucharest radio announced last night that an order has been issued in Rumania prohibiting Jews in a number of small towns from leaving their homes from 8 P.M. to 7 A.M. Jews are also forbidden to congregate in streets and houses, or even to pay visits to relatives.
At the same time the Rumanian government ordered compulsory labor service for all Jews, including children of both sexes who reached the age of 12. The latter are to serve for a period of twenty to twenty-five days.
