RUDOLPH ZASLAWSKI, NOTED EUROPEAN YIDDISH ACTOR AND DIRECTOR, DIED HERE TODAY OF AN ASTHMA ATTACK DURING A REHEARSAL. HE WAS 51 YEARS OLD. ZASLAWSKI ESTABLISHED THE YIDDISH PEOPLES’ THEATRE HERE SOME YEARS AGO AND TOURED THE UNITED STATES IN 1926. AFTER PLAYING IN NEW YORK, PHILADELPHIA AND OTHER AMERICAN CITIES, HE RETURNED TO EUROPE AND IN 1928 FOUNDED A JEWISH THEATRE IN WARSAW. HE WAS BORN IN THE UKRAINE AND BEGAN HIS DRAMATIC CAREER AT THE AGE OF 9 IN ODESSA. ON JUNE 7, 1936, IT WAS ERRONEOUSLY REPORTED FROM DANZIG THAT ZASLAWSKI HAD DIED.
