The 70th anniversary of Zichron Yaacov, one of the oldest settlements in Israel, was celebrated today in the settlement with a festival at which wine was distributed freely from the settlement’s famous wine cellars which were established many years ago with the financial aid of Baron Edmund de Rothschild.
Acting President of Israel, Joseph Sprinzak, and Premier David Ben Gurion, as well as other members of the Israel cabinet, came to Zichron Yaacov to participate in the celebration. They addressed large meetings at which the progress of the settlement was reviewed by various speakers. Professor Walter C. Lovdermilk, American soil expert, spoke at the celebration on the prospects of wine production in Israel.
