Zionism was today characterized as a bulwark against assimilation and Communism by David Ben-Gurion, leader of the organization department of the World Zionist Executive, at a conference with members of the press.
Mr. Ben-Gurion declared that it is the movement’s aim to conquer the Jewish people for Zionism and to develop Zionist comradeship for the sake of inner unity in the movement.
Discussing the recent World Zionist Congress at Lucerne, Mr. Ben-Gurion listed its greatest achievements as follows:
First, the return to the presidency of the World Zionist Organization of Dr. Chaim Weizmann, veteran Zionist leader and noted scientist.
Secondly, establishment of a coalition executive comprising representatives of the leading Zionist parties.
Thirdly, the transfer to Jerusalem of the organization department.
Others who addressed the conference were Rabbi J. Fishman and Isaac Gruenbaum, who share with Mr. Ben-Gurion the organization department portfolio. They called for Zionist education as the basis of Zionist work and for increased effort in the upbuilding of Palestine.
