It was preceded by a meeting of the joint Jewish Agency-Israel Government Coordinating Board, under the chairmanship of Premier David Ben Gurion. This meeting approved a doubling of the immigration quota for the next six months–20, 000 between October, 1958 and March, 1959, instead of the 10, 000 originally planned for.
Three major questions are on the Actions Committee’s agenda: Discussion of plans for increased immigration to Israel; approval of an agreement between the Israel Government and the Jewish National Fund for the creation of a joint “land authority,” and consideration of the new investment fund project approved by the world Zionist movement recently. The structure and method of operation of the new Zionist project have not been set yet.
