Israeli Chief of Staff Yaacov Dori, speaking at the concluding session of an intensive officers refresher course somewhere in southern Israel, declared that the Jewish state would always have to maintain a large standing army. He also emphasized the need for establishing a network of border settlement and key boards.
A group of 145 Arab prisoners of war, including one British soldier who fought with the Arabs, passed through the Jewish lines today in the Jerusalem area. An Arab leper and an eight-year-old crippled child were also among those allowed to cross the Israeli lines.
