The Zionist Actions Committee, which is the supreme Zionist body between Congresses, will not be convoked in the near future, it was announced here today by Berl Locker, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive. Mr. Locker said that instead of holding a meeting of the Actions Committee, the Jewish Agency executive will maintain consultations with leaders of the various Zionist parties. He is leaving for South Africa today at the invitation of the Zionist Federation there.
The return of the Progressive Zionists to the ranks of the General Zionist Party was urged today by Dr. Emanuel Neumann, American Zionist leader, addressing a public meeting. Dr. Neumann said he came to Israel to remind the Jews there that they and the Jews in other countries of the world are “interdependent.” Israel’s best ally are the Jewish communities in the countries outside of the Jewish state and not any of the western powers, Dr. Neumann said.
