The American Zionist Council last night issued a statement scoring the State Department’s one-sided treatment of Israel in the current dispute with the Arab states which is under consideration in the UN Security Council.
The Council declared that it viewed with alarm the fact that the “Department of State has hastened to single out one side for rebuke on the eve of the Security Council’s consideration” of Near Eastern tension. “In our view,” it continued, “the Department of State has acted with obvious bias, in disregard of the traditional friendship between America and Israel.” The statement took particular exception to the State Department’s decision to withhold economic aid from Israel “as an unwarranted act of duress.”
