Resolutions calling for the strengthening of the Zionist movement in Brazil, as well as urging Brazilian Jews to take an active part in the development of local Jewish community life, were adopted here at the concluding session of a three-day national conference of the Labor Zionist Party of Brazil.

The convention also decided to intensify the activities of the party in the fields of Jewish education and promotion of the Chalutz movement. A group of 53 Chalutzim will leave for Israel within a few days, it was reported at the convention.

The delegates issued an appeal to the Soviet Union and other countries behind the Iron Curtain to permit the emigration of Jews who wish to go to Israel. One of the principal speakers at the gathering was Gen. David Shealtiel, Israel’s Minister in Brazil. Israel Dines was reelected secretary general of the Zionist Labor Party.
