National Zionist organizations are taking positive steps to insure total participation by their memberships in local Israel Emergency Fund campaigns, Paul Zuckerman, UJA general chairman announced today. Jacques Torczyner, prominent member of the Executive of the World Zionist Organization and a past president of the Zionist Organization of America, will serve as chairman of the Zionist supporting effort, Zuckerman announced. Eight Zionist organizations with some 800,000 members are taking part in the participation drive, including Hadassah, Religious Zionists, B’nai Zion, United Zionists-Revisionists, American Jewish League, Americans for Progressive Israel, and the ZOA.
“This will be a two-pronged approach,” Torczyner explained, “aimed at securing a contribution from every individual member of our Zionist organizations, as well as upgrading individual gifts. This approach can be of great benefit to communities about to launch broad, city-wide mass appeals as part of their Phase Two campaigning.” Local communities with selected lists of top, active prospects known to be members of Zionist organizations can submit them to the ZOA National office for evaluation. Arrangements will then be made for these names to be reviewed and resolicited, Torczyner said.
