A delegation of Zionist leaders headed by Chief Rabbi Jakob Niemirower has delivered to Foreign Minister Gregoire Gafencu a memorandum outlining the position of the Zionist movement in Rumania and stressing the economic importance of Palestine to Rumania. Replying, Mr. Gafencu declared he had always been keenly interested in the Zionist movement and while aware of the difficulties, realized the importance to the Jews of large emigration to Palestine. He expressed the opinion that the Polish and Rumanian governments should cooperate toward a solution of the Jewish problem, stating that Palestine should be considered as the first outlet.
