The Labor Zionist Alliance and the Rabbinical Assembly issued statements today denouncing the renewed bombing of North Vietnam and called for an immediate halt. Dr. Judah J. Shapiro, LZA president, declared that the bombings “will not provide any solutions nor will they bring peace a day closer. On the contrary, they threaten to rekindle and expand this war which everybody wants ended.”
Dr. Shapiro called upon the U.S. government to “do whatever is necessary to reopen the negotiations” and urged “that the first step in that direction be the cessation of the bombing.” A telegram to President Nixon signed by Rabbi Judah Naditch on behalf of the Rabbinical Assembly Executive Council urged immediate cessation of the bombing.
