A few hundred active Zionists gathered at the Vienna Monday evening, to pay tribute to Representative Hamilton Fish Jr., of New York, author of the Zionist resolution which he successfully sponsored, passing the House June 30, 1922.
The dinner was arranged by the National Executive Committee of the Zionist Organization. Speeches were delivered by Representative La Guardia, Mrs. Richard Gotteheil, Representative Chas. G Bond, Hon. Francie M. Hugo, former Secretary of the State of New York, Judge Wm. Lewis of Philadelphia, Dr. Joseph Silverman, Abraham Goldberg of the Zionist Administration and Bernard A. Rosenblatt, member of the Palestine Zionist Executive. Louis Lipsky, Chairman of the National Executive Committee presided. There were greetings from Professor Richard Gottheil, Dr. Stephen S. Wise and Louis Wiley, Manager of the New York Times. Other guests included Representative Nathan D. Pearlman, Congressman Ansorge, Congressman Lester D. Valk, Hon. Albert D. Rossdale, Congressman Isaac Siegel and Abraham S. Schomer, of the Order Sons of Zion.
The conviction that American Jews would rally to the support of the Holy Land which would be a factor for peace in the Near East was voiced by Congressman Fish in an address which was very warmly received.
