Appreciation for the services of Louis Marshall, Felix M. Warburg, and Dr. Chaim Weizmann in their efforts toward the consummation of the Jewish Agency was expressed in a number of resolutions adopted by the thirty-second annual convention of the Zionist Organization of America held in Detroit last week.
Resolutions also expressed appreciation for the services of Morris Rothenberg, Acting President of the Zionist Organization of America, who has administered the affairs of the organization during Louis Lipsky’s absence.
Among the resolutions adopted were the following:
1. “Resolved that the Z.O.A. in convention assembled extend its warm felicitations and hearty greetings to Louis Marshall and Felix M. Warburg and to their colleagues who are laboring so earnestly and zealously in the formation of the Jewish Agency, to the end that world Israel may be united in the consecrated and consecrating task of rebuilding our national homeland.”
2. “Resolved that the Zionists of America, in convention assembled, extend their felicitations to their leader incomparable, Chaim Weizmann, the President of the World Zionist Organization. We pledge ourselves anew in loving fealty to him, cognizant and appreciative of his masterful qualities and ever confident that his wise leadership and undauntable spirit will be the means of bringing about a realization of our dreams and hopes. With singleness of purpose and high resolve we pledge ourselves to loyal and continued support of his leadership.
3. “We record our appreciation of the great honor accorded us by the presence of that statesman, scholar and leader in world Jewry, Nahum Sokolow. His inspiring utterances and wise counsel served to flame our hearts and minds into brighter hope for our gloroius ideals of Zion so that we might continue to persevere and labor for our enduring cause.”
4. “In the absence of Louis Lipsky, the President of the Zionist Organization of America, the responsibility for the conduct of the affairs of the Z.O.A. has been placed upon Morris Rothenberg. Mr. Rothenberg has given unstintingly of his time and ability to the work of the organization and has labored indefatigably in the negotiations for the consummation of the Jewish Agency; therefore, be it resolved that the Zionist Organization of America, assembled at its thirty-second annual convention, express its deep appreciation for and satisfaction with the service which he has rendered to the Zionist cause.”
5. “Resolved that the delegates assembled at this, the thirty-second annual convention of the Zionist Organization of America, send to the Hon. Nathan Straus their sincere and hearty expressions of unbounded affection and love.”
