High Commissioner Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, Palestine chief executive, today received a delegation representing the British Zionist Federation and informally discussed the present position in the Holy Land, according to an official statement issued by the federation today.
Sir Arthur has been here for some time on his annual leave, and is reported to be advising the Colonial Office on the final draft of the ordinance creating a legislative council in Palestine.
The first task of the High Commissioner, who returns to his post early in November, will be to set up the legislative council. All sections of Jewish opinion in Palestine have expressed opposition to the measure.
