Various factions of the Zionist movement in the United States have united into a Shekel Campaign Committee and will shortly launch a drive to collect money for the World Zionist Organization, it was announced yesterday.
The “shekel” is the sum of money paid by a Zionist during a Zionist Congress year which entitles him to vote for delegates. Although this is not a Congress year, the Zionist Executive Committee has issued the order for a collection campaign.
The following Zionist organizations are represented on the committee: The Zionist Organization of America, the Poale Zion-Zeire Zion Party, the Farband Poale Zion Youth Organization, the Hadassah, the Mizrachi Organization, the Mizrachi Hatzair, the Revisionist Party, the Jewish National Workers Alliance, the Order Bnai Zion and the Pioneer Women’s Organization.
