Maxim Gorky was exonerated of anti-Semitism and invited to return to Russia by a gathering of Jewish communists who held a public discussion of the Russian writer’s views. Both his political opinions and his attitude towards the Jews as expressed in an interview he gave Sholom Asch were discussed.
