The celebration of the one hundredth anniversary of the birth of Dr. Sabato Morais, founder of the Jewish Theological Seminary, will take place on April 18 at the Mikveh Israel Synagogue of Philadelphia, of which Dr. Morais was at one time a rabbi. Dr. Cyrus Adler, acting President of the Seminary will present a paper on Dr. Morais and a tablet will be erected in the synagogue and a medal struck in commemoration of the event.
The Seminary will also hold a celebration of its own. The Seminary, Dr. Adler also announced, has now sixty-seven students in its Regular Rabbinical Department and twenty-two are pursuing studies for the degree of Doctor of Hebrew Literature. The Teachers’ Institute has an enrolment of 340 students in the regular, postgraduate and extension departments.
