The seventieth birthday of Dr. Nerehmiah Mossessohn, editor of the Jewish Tribune and Hebrew Standard was celebrated with a dinner held in his honor at Chalif’s, 163 W. 57th Street Wednesday evening. The veteran editor was presented with silverware and a life size portrait of himself.
Dr. Mossessohn has been engaged in the Jewish journalistic world for half a century. Prior to coming to New York, he was rabbi and editor of a Jewish periodical in Portland, Oregon.
Among those who spoke at the dinner were Nathan Strauss, Rev. F. DeSola Mendes, David A. Brown, Professor Richard Gottheil, Rabbi Elias Solomon, Mrs. Richard Gottheil and Rev. Dr. Bernard N. Kaplan. Rabbi Nathan Kraus was toastmaster.
