Although the Minister for Education in Czecho-Slovakia has declined to accept the resignation of Prof. Dr. Samuel Steinherz as rector of the Jerman University at Prague, the Senate of the University has now asked the Government to permit the Rector to resign his post.

The application is made on the ground that the University is an autonomous body and the Rector should be permitted to retire from his post when he so desires.

It is understood that the Senate has acted in this matter in accordance with the wishes of Dr. Steinherz, who is relinquishing his post in consequence or the hostility shown toward him as a Jew.
