Considerable comment has been aroused here by the action of the Board of the Warsaw City Council in regard to the seal of the Warsaw Jewish communal organization. Since the Middle Ages the seal has included the City Coat of Arms, representing a siren. The Board of the City Council contends now that there is no document to show that the Jewish communal organization has any right to the use of this coat of arms.

The Jewish community has decided not to fight the case and will not use the seal any more. A competition has been announced for a new design for a seal for the community.
