Speaking on Americanization, Secretary of Labor Davis told an audience here that on examination of several hundred immigrants at Elis Iland, he had found that only a few had callouses on their hands.
“Does that imply that immigrants without callouses are undesirable?” the secretary was asked by one of the audience.
“If you are referring to Jews you are mistken “replied Mr. Davis,” we need people with heads no less than hands, and Jews form a good example of thinking citezens.”
