The launching of a million dollar campaign for the Jewish Theological Seminary and its affiliated institutions and the establishment of a publication as a forum for scholarly work among American rabbis were the principal steps that marked the convention of the Rabbinical Assembly of the Jewish Theological Seminary which is meeting at Long Branch.

Dr. Louis Epstein in his presidential message urged that means be provided to enlarge the faculty and student body of the Seminary and to make the great Jewish library of the Seminary available for scholars generally.

Dr. L. Finkelstein reported for the placement committee that applications for Seminary rabbis had been received from 48 congregations.

There were three graduates this year and 48 calls for them, Dr. Finkelstein declared “We cannot get enough rabbis to fill the demand.”

Dr. Cyrus Adler and Elias L. Solomon also addressed the convention.
