An interpellation was submitted the government in the Sejm by Deputy Zulawski of the Polish Socialist Party (P.P.S.) demanding the reason the authorities have forbidden the Jews of Wohlynia to use publicly the Yiddish language.

Zulawski pointed out that this order was in direct violation of the constitution.

The Deputy’s championing of Jewish rights created something of a sensation as it is a rare event in the Polish Sejm to witness a non-Jewish deputy taking up cudgels for Jewish rights.

It is the first time that a representative of the Polish Socialist Party championed a Jewish cause.
