A sentence of fourteen days’ arrest has been imposed on policeman Blum, of Safed, charged with having refused to answer a summons of the court to appear in a trial on Yom Kippur.

The Jewish policeman said he thought he would be excused from duty on the Day of Atonement and failed to answer the summons.
