Ex-service men of the Jewish Battalions which took part in the British campaign against the Turks have banded themselves together in the “Menorah Club”. Ex-officers as well as soldiers are admitted into the club on an equal footing.
At the inauguration meeting last night J. Ben Zvi, a member of the Vaad Leumi and an ex-private in one of the Battalions, presided. Addresses were delivered by David Yellin, head of the Vaad Leumi, Governor Storrs of Jerusalem and Sir Gilbert Clayton, Civil Secretary to Palestine. A message was received from General Allenby, High Commissioner for Egypt, and former commander-in-chief of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force.
Jews owe their National Home to the Legionaires. Sir Gilber said. General Sorrs declared the Government had named the street on which the Menorah Club house is situated in honor of the Club.
