Ehrlich, Only Jewish Senator in South Africa Dies

M. Ehrlich, the only Jewish member of the South African Senate, died yesterday at Blomfontein.

His funeral today was attended by many thousand Jews and non-Jews. Premier Hertzog, the new Prime Minister of South Africa, delivered an address at the grave in which he dwelled upon his friendship with Senator Ehrlich, for the past twenty-nine years. He pointed out the great contribution of the late Senator to the economic and political development of the country, and Satated that South Africa had suffered a great loss upon his death.

Senator Ehrlich was a prominent leader of Jewry in South Africa and was the founder of the Jewish Board of Deputies, a union of Jewish communities in South Africa.
