Carl Hertz, the famous magician, died here, in the midst of a performance which he was giving. For forty-five years he had been, continuously, a featured performer, and had often earned as much as $5,000. per week. He left a fortune estimated at over $1,000,000, and according to Will Goldston, Vice President of the Magicians Club, Hertz’ stage career was financially the most successful on record. While his talents were so brilliant that he was frequently called the greatest magician that ever lived, he occasionally got into trouble with the authorities, the most recent instance occuring in Germany. He was born in America of German parents.
