Samuel Gompers, President of the American Federation of Labor, himself an immigrant and a Jew, has, in a statement to appear in the April issue of the “American Federationist,” the official organ of the A. F. of L., issued an appeal to the unions to fight the propaganda for unlimited immigration. In his statement he joins forces with John R. Quinn, National Commander of the American Legion.
Both declare that America is in danger unless there is the strictest kind of immigration. Both indicate that the American Legion and the American Federation of Labor are in agreement upon the desirability of an absolute stoppage of immigration for the present, but in the absence of such stoppage, they demand the strictest possible limitation.
