In connection with the rumored religious reforms of the Turkish Government, particularly with reference to the abolishment of the office of the Hakam Bashi (Grand R???bbinate) and the Jewish religious autonomy, the correspondent of the J.T.A. in Angora sought an interview with the present Hakam Bashi, Chaim Bejarano Effendi. The Hakam Bashi declared that since the Angora Government intends to give free access, to all nationalities and religions, to all Turkish schools and institutions, the non-Turkish religious national institutions were now unnecessary. This is the official opinion of the Hakam Bashi; whether this is also the opinion of the majority of the Jews is yet to be established.
