The alarming reports about the situation on the northern frontier of Syrian have been denied today by the press here. It is stated that the Turkish movements in the direction of Syria are being watched carefully by the French, and that the fighting reported amounted to mere skirmishes, warranting no anxiety. A despatch from General Weygand, French High Commissioner of Syria, states that there has been no change in the situation.

Berlin reports say that General Von Lossow, Attache of the German Imperial Embassy at Constantinople during the war, and at the present time military adviser to the Turkish Government, now in Italy, has accepted the post of Inspector General of the Turkish army. On the other hand, the correspondent of the “Berliner Tageblatt” in Constantinople, has sent a telegraphic denial that General Von Lossow has been offered this post.
