Zionist Women’s Organization Shows Remarkable Growth in Last Year

17,100 Jewish women in the United States are members of the Zionist women’s organization, Hadassah, according to the report of Miss Henrietta Szold, President of Hadassah, submitted to the convention of the Hadassah, which opened here yesterday, with 148 delegates and 500 visitors from all over the United States, at the William Penn Hotel. 5,062 of this number are new members who have joined during the past year.

Miss Szold recommended that the Hadassah assume an increase of $50,000 in the hospital budget of the Hadassah Medical Organiz

ation for the year 1924-25, with a view to assuming the entire medical work at some future time. Miss Szold further recommended that the Hadassah resume responsibility for a three year contract with the Director of the medical organization, and that the Hadassah assume responsibility for part of the maintenance of the hospital proposed for Tiberias.

Mr. Louis Lipsky, Chairman of the Zionist Organization of America, addressed the convention, saying that the women of the Hadassah were setting the pace for the men.

$250,000. has been collected by the organization during the past year, according to the report of the Treasurer, $196,000 of which has been raised since January.
