Marking the seventy-fifth anniversary of the founding of the order, District Lodge #1, Independent Order Free Sons of Israel, met Sunday in convention at the Park Avenue Hotel with representatives of 118 lodges from Eastern and Middle States in attendance.
A resolution was adopted by the delegates asking the Grand Lodge at its next convention in Atlantic City in May to close membership to non-citizens.
Louis Hess, former counsel to the order, said it had thousands of members and a reserve of $1,600,000.
