That Morris Rothschild, member of the well-known banking firm, obtained his election through corrupting the voters, having spent for that purpose 2,000,000 francs, was the charge made by his rival, M. Battu.

Rothschild was recently elected to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Gilbert Planche, son of the well-known radical French deputy.
