The Queen of Holland and Felix M. Warburg of New York, President of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, are the only holders of the Hungarian Red Cross Decoration, according to data made available here to-day.
The Hungarian Red Cross Decoration is an order which was created by Admiral Horthy of Hungary and is to be awarded only to these who have rendered high services to the Hungarian State and people.
Jewish circles here to-day have learned with great satisfaction the news that this decoration was conferred upon the President of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. The decoration was conferred upon Mr. Warburg as an appreciation of his activities as Chairman of the American Siberian Repatriation War Fund, which was instrumental in repatriating to Hungary, eight thousand Hungarians who were war prisoners in Siberia, at the expense of nearly $1,000,000, to which the Red Cross contributed $500,000 and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, $250,000.
