David Yelin, well-known Hebrew and Arabic scholar, once Mayor of the city of Jerusalem and President of the Vaad Ha’ leumi, arrived here yesterday on the “Adriatic” to serve as visiting professor at the Jewish Institute of Religion under the leadership of Dr. Stephen S. Wise.

Dr. Wise, in welcoming the guest, stated that “David Yelin is one of the fine figures of the very promising life in Palestine. He will be welcomed as a Zionist, as a scholar and as a teacher by multitudes in American Israel.”

“The situation in Palestine has greatly improved”, Professor Yelin stated. “Both the Arabs and the Jews now are taking more into account the realities of the situation and are approaching a period of co-operation. The latest attempt of Mr. Ussichkin in Europe has proved that European Jews also in a position to continue efforts of development of Palestine. This, however, must be accomplished with the full co-operation of American Jewry”, Mr. Yelin stated.
