Agudas Israel Conference Decides to Extend Work Inpalestine

The Palestine activity of the Agudas Israel Organization was the subject of a lengthy discussion at the fourth session of the Conference of the Central Council of the Agudas Israel Organization which is now being held here. It was decided to continue and to extend the activity in regard to the purchase of land in Palestine, both on political and economic grounds.

Dr. S. Ehrmann, head of the Palestine Office of the Agudas Israel in Frankfort, reported on the work already achieved in Palestine. Dr. Nathan Birnbaum, Deputy Kirschbraun of Warsaw and others took part in the debate on the work in Palestine.

A report on education was then made by Dr. I Deutschlaender the head of the Keren Hatora. The heads of several Lithuanian Yeshiboth joined in the debate which followed.

Reports were submitted from the different countries in which Agudas Israel Organizations exist, it being stated that the Agudist movement has increased in membership in all countries. The Palestine Agudah has secured a large number of seats in the elections to the Askenazic Waad Hair. In the Jewish communal elections in Poland the Agudas Israel returned a large number of representatives. The religious bloc organized by the Agudah had secured sixty percent of the total number of seats in the Jewish communal organizations of Poland, and in the cities of Warsaw and Lodz-they where the strongest single party.
