The main synagogue in Odessa has been closed by order of the Communist authorities, for political reasons, according to information received here.

A particularly strong attack on the Zionists in Odessa was made by the “Emes”, the Yiddish organ of the Jewish section of the Communist party, in an editorial by Tschemerynsky. The writer says that Odessa has always been the center of Zionist activities where the ideology of Bialik and Ussischkin was preached. Odessa was also the center of Zionist emigration to Palestine. Lately these activities have been renewed and the “Emes” threatens the Zionist leaders in Odessa with further repressions.
